Develop Skills for Online Success

I have studied 100′s of books on personal development over the years and one of my favorite authors is Brian Tracy. Tracy is a well known author, business trainer and motivational speaker. His background is in sales so many of his topics are about developing yourself to be not only a better person but to improve your skills in sales and in business.

Tracy had a technique of self evaluation that he used in his teachings to help people to develop qualities, attributes or skills that they feel to be their weakest skill set. Think about this statement for a minute; ‘Your weakest skill is determining your current income.’ How could you double your income by developing that weak area of your life to make yourself more effective?

A couple of posts ago I discussed Communication as the #1 skill I believe that you should develop to be successful as an online entrepreneur. In this post I will list 6 other skills that I feel are important to your online success.

As you read through the following list, you might want to take a personal inventory or an honest evaluation of your own skills. Notice if you are stronger in some of these areas and weaker in others.

ClickBank for Newbies free eBook

There’s a new Ebook I have just come across which I predict will become very popular.

It solves a problem which causes most newbies to quit affiliate marketing with ClickBank.

ClickBank for Newbies, written by Harvey Segal (Mr ClickBank) is a quick easy read, written without hype and not littered with annoying links.

If you are a ClickBank affiliate you might be losing commission without knowing it. I know I have. From sales leaks and uncloaked hoplinks.

And  the cost of this book ?

It’s free !

It also ends with an amazing  idea for making you money from the book itself.

I learned many helpful tips and I’m sure you will too.

It’s All About Communication Online

I started to write a post about 7 success skills or qualities of the online entrepreneur. The first skill I began writing about was Communication. As I was writing, I realized that this skill is so important that I need to devote the entire post to the subject of communication online. I will discuss the other 6 skills at a later time:-)

Your business on the internet is all about communication. Nothing really happens in your business until you communicate with someone.

If you are a person who thinks ‘maybe I can just hide at home and put up a few canned sites to sell stuff,’ you are missing the main point about what it takes to be successful online. We aren’t out here just ‘selling stuff”, we are communicating, sharing, educating, helping, gaining friendships, supporting, and acquiring business partnerships etc etc.

Since communication is such a huge part of an online business, it’s helpful if you enjoy it. Successful people enjoy communicating or sharing their ideas and personal experiences with other people. Having a successful business involves putting yourself out there. The more people you communicate with the better. It’s helpful if you like to write. A natural ability or love of writing will put you way ahead of the game since there is so much writing involved with communicating online.

Super Mind Evolution System free MP3′s

Last week in my Mastermind class we had a very fascinating discussion regarding the  subconscious mind.

We were discussing the idea that every thought that enters our conscious mind is recorded or filed away in our subconscious mind and can be recalled later.  Our thoughts stored in our subconscious minds help to form our self image. These thoughts, whether positive or negative, stored in our subconscious mind, will influence the actions we take and the decisions we make in our lives.

We also talked about the idea that other people may have the ability to pick up on our thoughts, and that our thoughts may influence those around us.

Now, this is a scientific discussion that I am not going to venture into for this blog; but if this subject interests you, I would like to direct you to a website I found that goes into this subject in great detail.

It’s called the Super Mind Evolution System. At this site they discuss the technology they use to reprogram the subconscious mind, as well as the technology that can be used to program your dreams to heal your mind and body.

Why Have a Blog?

I recently set up this blog and I wish I had set it up a long time ago. A blog is a great way to introduce yourself, your business, and your interests to the world and to share information with others who are interested in your topic.

Also, as a shopper online, I look for information about the marketer so I know who I’m buying from. I look for a picture, a story or other information so I know a little about who is promoting the product.

You really should beware of websites that have no contact information such as an email, support link, phone number or business name etc.

As a marketer online, you may have several websites promoting a variety of products. The blog is then used as a vehicle to bring all of your products or websites together. You can promote your blog URL that includes your About Me page and a list of all or most of the products that you promote.

The blog can also be used like a newsletter. When people sign up to be on your blog list, they will receive an email with the link to your blog whenever you have updates to your posts. Your blog visitors can easily keep up with what’s going on in your world or on the subject that you write about.

The Work You Were Born to Do

This is a shameless plug for someone whose work I think everyone needs to know about…

Nick Williams’s book – The Work You Were Born To Do – has made a big impression on my life… Every time I meet a challenge along the way, I still pick up that book, and I immediately find a quote or a passage which reminds me why I decided to start my own business and what following your heart is all about.

Anyway, Nick is on an ambitious mission to get the essence of his message – that we can all create successful businesses around work we LOVE – out to as many people as possible…

… and in order to do so, he’s turned his signature book – The Work You Were Born To Do – into a fantastic e-course.

I’ve been recommending people buy his book for some time now and it just got easier. Nick is now offering this great course totally free of charge on his website!

Email Marketing- Be Real

Over the past year I have signed up for quite a few mailing lists. I like to receive mailings from top marketers in this industry to know what products they are promoting. I also like to buy good products and to see different  marketing styles and approaches.

If they are  good marketers they write  informative content.  They share information to educate and to encourage  subscribers to stay on their list. They seldom just write a few lines to sell a product.

Lately I’ve been noticing a new approach in emails to get  attention. I think we all know that too much hype in an email is a turn off to most people. Also many adjectives and superlatives are caught in spam so marketers are forced to tone it down a bit. But what I appreciate lately is to see marketers becoming more ‘real’. I’ll give you an example of this in a minute.

First, I’d like to say that today’s online buyers are becoming more sophisticated. They also have a short attention span. This forces marketers to try harder to keep the attention of this new sophisticated buyer. There is also more competition in marketing with new and improved technologies to better present the products. These new marketing methods help raise the bar bringing marketing to a higher level. This results in buyers becoming better informed and more selective in who they do business with.
